Totem Natural Gas Storage
Project Permitting Timeline

  • By letter dated February 28, 2007, CIG notified the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) of its request to initiate the commission's Pre-Filing procedures for the proposed Totem Natural Gas Storage Project. These procedures allow for the early project scoping and review of environmental and landowner concerns.

  • On March 15, 2007, FERC approved CIG's request to initiate the Pre-Filing procedures. The commission assigned Docket No. PF07-6-000 to this proceeding.

  • On April 17, 2007 CIG held an open house in Bennett, Colorado to present the proposed project to the landowners in the area and other interested public and private parties.

  • On April 19, 2007, CIG submitted the first drafts of the environmental resources reports describing the project and presenting a discussion of alternatives to the project.

  • On April 30, 2007, FERC issued its notice of intent to prepare an environmental assessment (EA) for the project. The notice provided until May 30, 2007 as the end of the scoping period, by which time, interested parties needed to submit comments on issues they want to see addressed in the EA.

  • CIG proposes to file its application with FERC for a certificate authorizing the construction and operation of the Totem Natural Gas Storage Project by September 2007.

  • Currently, CIG is also preparing applications for other permits that are necessary from local, state, and additional federal agencies.
